Baseball Recap: Myrtle Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Myrtle entered their tilt with Byers on Monday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lions a 13-0 shutout. Considering the Hawks have won 14 contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

BJ Treadaway made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Treadaway was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Jaxon Robbins was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Drew Stanton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Myrtle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .714. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Myrtle pushed their record up to 19-6 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Byers, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Coming up, Myrtle will host Ingomar at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Byers does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
