The Garland Owls lost against the Wylie East Raiders back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Garland took a 56-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wylie East. While losing is never fun, Garland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 504th, while Wylie East is ranked 209th).
Garland's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaierick Moore jr, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Musa Ndow, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Garland and nudges their season record down to 8-8. As for Wylie East, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Garland will take on Naaman Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Naaman Forest will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Wylie East, they will look to defend their home court on Sunday against North Garland at 7:00 p.m. North Garland is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
