3A Region III District 17 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Robinson extended the longest winning streak in 3A Region III District 17 this week by beating West, 56-6. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Rockets.
Connally moved up to 120 from 146 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Cadets were able to make the jump by besting Lorena 29-19.
The Leopards' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Harris Coleman threw for 113 and one touchdown and Cooper Cox had 43 yards receiving. On the ground Coleman chipped in 145 yards. Cole Channon helped Lorena's passing attack out by catching one ball for 22 yards.
Robinson's Zach Sullivan and Cody Brooks have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Sullivan has thrown for 1095 yards this season, while Brooks has 25 catches for 596 yards. Lorena's Coleman leads the league in rushing yards with 783.
A big matchup in 3A Region III District 17 this week will be when Tommy Allison's team takes on Connally. The Rockets are currently in first, while Mike Rabe's team is in fourth.
