Louis E. Dieruff had lost four games straight , but after bumping their record up to 2-9 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. They skirted past the East Stroudsburg North Timberwolves 8-6. The Huskies' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jean Varela and Frawvely Peralta were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Varela pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Peralta tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Varela has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Varela got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run, while Peralta went 1-for-4 with three RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Varela a new career-high.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Sebesta, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Alonzy Almonte was another, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
As for East Stroudsburg North, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since April 17, 2024.
Like Louis E. Dieruff, East Stroudsburg North also got a great game from a two-way player: Josiah Caceres. He struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits Caceres has allowed since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
