Basketball Recap: Triton Piles Up the Points Against Western Harnett

A well-balanced attack led Triton over Western Harnett in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Triton Hawks blew the Western Harnett Eagles out of the water with a 64-26 final score. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 25 points or more this season.

Leading Triton to victory were Demarbiaz Devane and Ro'Mello Pegues. Devane went 8 of 11 on his way to 17 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals, while Pegues went 7 for 8 en route to 19 points and four steals. Those four steals gave Devane a new career-high. Another player making a difference was B. J. Surles, who posted five points.

Triton's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-8. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31.7 points. As for Western Harnett, they are on a 44-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-19.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Triton will host Pine Forest at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pine Forest knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Triton likes a good challenge. Western Harnett has already played their next match (against E.E. Smith), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
