Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Highland Springs Springers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell 42-34 to the Eagles on Saturday. Highland Springs' defeat signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Freedom to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jeff Overton, who rushed for 150 yards on only 14 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Evans-Trujillo, who threw for 100 yards while completing 75% of his passes.
Highland Springs' loss ended a 20-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-2. As for Freedom, their victory was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-0.
Highland Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Freedom also has no future games currently scheduled.
