The Layton Lancers will venture away from home to square off against the Farmington Phoenix at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Layton turned things around against Corner Canyon on Friday. They never let the Chargers get on the board and left with a 17-0 win. Considering the Lancers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Layton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Corner Canyon only posted an OBP of .182.
Meanwhile, Farmington made easy work of Roy on Friday and carried off a 13-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Phoenix, who have now won nine matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Lill Topham tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Farmington got a massive performance out of Kiley Gazafy, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Lola Ogzewalla, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Layton's record is now 4-18. As for Farmington, their record now sits at 11-8.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Layton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Farmington struggles in that department as they've averaged .395. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Layton might still be hurting after the 13-3 defeat they got from Farmington when the teams last played back in April. Can the Lancers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
