If the First Academy Eagles were riding high off their 84-46 takedown of the Riverside Christian Wranglers last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. First Academy fell 59-52 to The Classical Academy of Sarasota on Saturday. First Academy found out winning isn't easy when you make seven fewer threes than your opponent.
Despite the defeat, First Academy had strong showings from Amari Smith, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds, and Rhett Walsh, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Jezowski, who scored four points along with five rebounds and two steals.
The Classical Academy of Sarasota's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cayden Bosso, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. Kellen Ulrich was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds.
First Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for The Classical Academy of Sarasota, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-11.
First Academy and Seven Rivers Christian will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Seven Rivers Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday. The Classical Academy of Sarasota will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Keswick Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Keswick Christian is out to stop a eight-game streak of losses at home.
