The Flowing Wells Caballeros will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Maricopa Rams at 7:00 p.m. Flowing Wells will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
Last Friday, Flowing Wells got themselves on the board against Nogales, but Nogales never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 42-0 win over the Apaches on the road.
Josyah Monarrez had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also picked up 55 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Jayden Simmons, who rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.
Meanwhile, Maricopa beat Ironwood Ridge 21-14 on Friday. The victory was just what Maricopa needed coming off of a 42-14 defeat in their prior match.
The critical scores for Maricopa came from Nate Barlow, Izaac Lopez, and Max Gambino.
Their wins bumped Flowing Wells to 2-7 and Maricopa to 4-5.
Flowing Wells came up short against Maricopa when the teams last played back in October of 2014, falling 37-30. Can Flowing Wells avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
