Rayleigh Hancock was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. Hancock was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Macy Spivey, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Addi Lovell was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Rockcastle County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Southwestern, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against Madison Southern on Tuesday as they made off with a 16-8 victory. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Halle Norvell was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Macie Gwin, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
Southwestern pushed their record up to 14-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Rockcastle County, their win bumped their record up to 15-12-1.
Rockcastle County might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Southwestern in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Will the Rockets have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
