Two dominant backs in Javian Osborne and Michael Turner are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Forney Jackrabbits will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Richland Royals at 6:00 p.m. on November 24th. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Forney: 12, Richland: 18.1) so any points scored will be well earned.
Forney had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Lone Star on Friday and snuck past 26-24. Given Forney's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Lone Star is ranked 65th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Forney found their leader in underclassman Osborne, who rushed for 201 yards and two touchdowns. Osborne is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played.
Meanwhile, Richland put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They pulled ahead with a 48-47 photo finish over Barbers Hill. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Turner was his usual excellent self, rushing for 292 yards and four touchdowns, while also catching a touchdown. Turner hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Drew Kates, who rushed for 24 yards and a touchdown.
Forney's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Richland, they have yet to lose a game on the road this season, leaving them with a 12-0 record.
