Deontay Greenberry broke two state receiving records and won a state title with Washington Union. All that - plus a jaw-dropping TD catch in the title game - made him an easy choice for MaxPreps Division III Player of the Year.

In setting state records for receiving yardage and touchdowns and leading his team to a state championship, Deontay Greenberry of Washington Union is the easy choice for MaxPreps California Division III Player of the Year.
Greenberry had astonishing numbers this year as he broke the state receiving touchdowns record with 33 and also topped the yardage mark with 2,165. The two previous marks were 29, held by John McKay Jr. of Bishop Amat (1970) and 2,053, held by Anthony Celestine of Burroughs (2003), according to the Cal-Hi Sports Record Book.
Greenberry topped off his season
by leading Washington Union to a 21-16 win over Campolindo (Moraga) in the Division III state title game, making a spectacular catch on a 26-yard pass for the first score of the game.
Headed to Notre Dame, Greenberry edges Lavon Coleman of Lompoc and Jared Goff of Marin Catholic for the top spot. Coleman was the Northwest Division MVP after leading Lompoc to an undefeated season. Goff, meanwhile, was the Marin County Offensive Player of the Year after throwing for more than 3,000 yards and 44 touchdowns.
The Division III All-State Team consists of those schools that played in the playoff enrollment divisions designated as Division III by the CIF.
