Rawlins County received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 62-44 to Cheylin. Rawlins County's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Rawlins County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brayan Rodriguez. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with six steals. Rodriguez hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games.
Pablo Bermudez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Cheylin, scoring 27 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bermudez has scored at least a third of Cheylin's points. Logan McCarty was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Rawlins County has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Cheylin, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Rawlins County will take on Quinter at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Quinter presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Rawlins County in Kansas (Quinter is ranked 98th, while Rawlins County is ranked 304th). As for Cheylin, they will head out on the road to square off against Wauneta-Palisade on Thursday. Cheylin is facing Wauneta-Palisade at the right time seeing as Wauneta-Palisade is stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
