Basketball Recap: Kellyn Ollendick's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Elkhorn Valley over Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard]

Elkhorn Valley lost against Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Elkhorn Valley Falcons took a 35-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] Bobcats. The matchup marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Elkhorn Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kellyn Ollendick, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Ollendick has been hot recently, having posted nine or more boards the last three times he's played. Korbin Werner was another key player, putting up seven points and 14 rebounds.

It was another big night for Michael Koenig, who went 8 of 13 en route to 18 points and five boards for Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard]. Another player making a difference was Preston Hoke, who posted eight points along with nine rebounds and three steals.

Elkhorn Valley's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 12-4. As for Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard], the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-1.

Elkhorn Valley will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Cedar Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on February 11th. As for Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard], they are taking a road trip to take on Wausa at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wausa will roll in looking for their 17th straight victory, something Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] surely won't give up without a fight.
