Softball Recap: Terre Haute North Vigo Extends Winning Streak to Four

Terre Haute North Vigo had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Evansville North Huskies. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Morgan Hoggatt made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kara Salmon was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kenzie Zigler, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Terre Haute North Vigo's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Evansville North, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-8.

Terre Haute North Vigo has already played their next game, a 6-1 defeat against Evansville Mater Dei on the 3rd. As for Evansville North, they are taking a road trip to challenge North Posey at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Huskies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
