Disney II and Farragut are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. Disney II will venture away from home to face off against Farragut at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Disney II made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Westinghouse, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Disney II blew past Westinghouse 14-4 on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Titans as they're now sitting on three straight.
The team relied heavily on Avery Coughlin, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).
Disney II always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Farragut hadn't done well against Goode STEM Academy recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Farragut put the hurt on Goode STEM Academy with a sharp 14-1 victory. The Admirals' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Farragut let Ben DeMateo and Nico Roman run wild. DeMateo scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3, while Roman went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. That double marked the first that Roman hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Yoel Guerra, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Disney II pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10 runs. As for Farragut, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Disney II has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .627. However, it's not like Farragut struggles in that department as they've averaged .504. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Disney II suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Farragut when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Disney II avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
