Baseball Recap: Andover Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Andover barely beat Newton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Trojans' pitchers stepped up to hand the Railers a 6-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Trojans have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The win (which was Andover's third in a row) raised their record to 13-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Newton, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Andover is set to square off against their familiar foe Goddard at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Newton will challenge rival Salina Central on Friday.
