Sadly, the Central Academy Cougars are still looking for their first win of the season after 17 matches. They lost to Anson on the road by a decisive 29-11 margin on Tuesday. Central Academy has struggled against Anson recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Central Academy had strong showings from Abby Bliven, who scored two points along with 15 rebounds and six steals, and Justice Hegwood, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Anson found their leader in underclassman Tatiyana Burns, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 16 rebounds. Burns hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Alaysia Caraway, who scored nine points along with five steals.
Central Academy's defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Anson, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-13.
Central Academy will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Piedmont at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Central Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 47 on Tuesday.
