Timpview hasn't had much luck against Springville recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Thunderbirds will challenge the Red Devils at 3:30 p.m. Timpview has given up an average of 9.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Timpview is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game on Tuesday. They lost 16-5 to Maple Mountain.
Elliot Myers made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Springville waltzed into their game on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They put the hurt on the Dons with a sharp 7-1 victory.
Springville also got a great performance from Logan Sitterud as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, Sitterud posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kasen Torres, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Springville pushed their record up to 10-11 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Timpview, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Timpview has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. However, it's not like Springville struggles in that department as they've averaged .442. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Timpview suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Springville in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Thunderbirds avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
