McCreary Central is a perfect 7-0 against Pineville since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. On Thursday, McCreary Central made easy work of Jellico and carried off an 18-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won nine in a row.
Mason Ball looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Joshua Weaver was a standout: he scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Tristen West, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
McCreary Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jellico struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Pineville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 21-10 to Thomas Walker. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.
Kaiden Robbins made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Robbins, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Pineville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for McCreary Central, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
Pineville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: McCreary Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. It's a different story for Pineville, though, as they've only averaged .155. Will they be able to contain McCreary Central's hitters?
McCreary Central took their win against Pineville when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 15-2. Will McCreary Central repeat their success, or does Pineville has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
