After a string of six wins, Ashe County's good fortune finally ran out  on Wednesday. They fell just short of the North Wilkes Vikings by a score of  3-2. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Vikings this season,  with their most recent  defeat being a  3-2  loss  back in September.
 In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Ashe County sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 20-25, 25-22, 23-25,  16-14.
 Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Jose Cheek, who  had 14  digs and two  aces. Cheek is  on a roll when it comes to  aces, as she's  now  served two or more in each of the last seven games she's  played.  Gracie Finley was another key player,  getting 28  digs, 16  kills,  and one  block.
Ashe County's defeat dropped their record down to 24-8. As for North Wilkes, the  victory (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 21-4.
As of now, neither Ashe County nor the Vikings have any future games scheduled.
