Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Knoxville Catholic Fighting Irish walked away with it. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Memphis University 31-28. The win made it back-to-back wins for Knoxville Catholic.
Jayden Neal was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 394 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85% of his passes. Braylon Harmon also helped out as he racked up 152 receiving yards.
Memphis University's lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brady Hughes, who threw for 228 yards and three touchdowns. Brandon Nicholson also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Memphis University's defensive line sure didn't make it easy: Knoxville Catholic's QB was sacked four times before it was all said and done. Hudson Shoaf was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up three sacks himself.
Knoxville Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Memphis University, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-2.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Baylor the next time they take the field. Knoxville Catholic will head out to face Baylor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Memphis University will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
