Keaton Thames and Jalen Kittrell provided fans with a highlight when they connected against ThunderRidge. The longest such play in 5A Continental this season, the connection resulted in 86 yards.
The Grizzlies took down Highlands Ranch 42-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Steve Ray ran for 211 yards during the win.
The Falcons' dynamic duo of Thames and Kittrell proved tough for ThunderRidge to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Thames threw for 243 yards and 2 touchdowns and Kittrell had 140 yards receiving. Eric Dynes helped Highlands Ranch's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 53 yards.
He was 13-25 with 1 interception.
Ray was a force in the backfield as Joe Johnson's team topped Highlands Ranch.
Zach Buxo made the biggest impact on defense this week as Darrel Gorham's team fell to the Grizzlies. The 6-foot-1 senior grabbed 1 sack.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, ThunderRidge's Brody Westmoreland and Mark Hopper have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-3 quarterback Westmoreland has thrown for 800 yards this season, while Hopper has 27 catches for 501 yards. Douglas County's Trey Smith leads the league in rushing yards with 746.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between the Huskies and the Grizzlies. Douglas County enters the game ranked 15th in the state, while ThunderRidge ranks fifth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Regis Jesuit takes on Chaparral. The Raiders have allowed 85 points this season, while the Wolverines have given up 81. Regis Jesuit allowed 16 points last week as it defeated Jeff Ketron's team.
The league will see a high scoring game when the Huskies and the Grizzlies face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Douglas County comes in having scored 155 this season, while ThunderRidge has scored 182. The Huskies scored 16 points last week as they fell to Mark Nolan's team.
The Grizzlies led 5A Continental in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on the Falcons. Ray ran for 211 yards in the win.
