Williamsburg has gone 9-1 against Lynn Camp recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Yellow Jackets will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m.
On Saturday, Williamsburg came up short against Harlan and fell 6-3. The Yellow Jackets haven't had much luck with the Green Dragons recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Williamsburg saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Kleinert, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Mason Rountree was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Lynn Camp and Buckhorn, and Lynn Camp kept the tradition alive. Lynn Camp was the clear victor by a 13-5 margin over Buckhorn on Saturday. With that victory, Lynn Camp brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Jeremiah Dixon and Ethan Curry made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Dixon tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Curry pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lynn Camp is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-12 otherwise. At bat, Dixon earned two runs and two stolen bases, while Curry went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave Curry a new career-high.
In other batting news, Dj Wren was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. He has become a key player for Lynn Camp: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Darren Campbell, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Lynn Camp was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Lynn Camp is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-13 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Williamsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 2-23.
Williamsburg took their victory against Lynn Camp in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 16-1 score. Will the Yellow Jackets repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
