The Morgan Trojans waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins but they left with four. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Ogden 69-41 at home. That's another feather in the cap for Morgan, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Morgan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaydence Wardell, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and six steals. Wardell has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Birkeland, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Ogden lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Salote Tonga, who scored nine points. Isabella Nestel was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Morgan has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-11 record this season. As for Ogden, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morgan will square off against Grantsville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grantsville is on a six-game streak of home wins, Morgan a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Ogden, they will head out on the road to square off against South Summit at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully South Summit focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday.
