Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of OB Lowery Jr. and Jaishawn Woods Lead South Point to Victory

South Point won the last time they faced Highland Tech and things went their way on Friday too. The South Point Red Raiders walked away with a 74-64 win over the Highland Tech Rams.

Leading South Point to victory were Jaishawn Woods and OB Lowery Jr.. Woods posted 20 points, while Lowery Jr. earned 19 points. Lowery Jr.'s evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tony Missouri, who had 12 points.

When it comes to explaining why Highland Tech lost, don't look at Elijah Sherrill. Despite the final result, he went 14 of 24 on his way to 41 points and five assists. That was a full 64.1% of Highland Tech's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper McCraw, who posted ten points and five blocks.

South Point now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Highland Tech, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

South Point won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Metrolina Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. South Point is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.8 points per game this season. As for Highland Tech, they will venture away from home to challenge Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Highland Tech also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 53.2 points per game.
