Archie Williams hasn't had much luck against Redwood recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Peregrine Falcons will head out to take on the Giants at 4:30 p.m. Archie Williams is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Archie Williams came up short against San Marin and fell 8-4.
Archie Williams saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paige Murphy, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Another was Lila James, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, while Redwood put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Novato. The Giants walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Hornets. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Giants.
Novato's batters probably weren't too happy with Stella Belluomini, who pitched a no hitter and racked up nine Ks (she gave up three walks). With that strong performance, Belluomini is now averaging an impressive 5 strikeouts per game.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gia Meyers, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Redwood hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Novato struck out nine times.
Archie Williams' defeat dropped their record down to 16-5. As for Redwood, their record is now 13-8.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Archie Williams hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Redwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Archie Williams might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Redwood in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Peregrine Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
