The Poyen Indians had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They put the hurt on Dierks with a sharp 36-16 win. The result was nothing new for Poyen, who have now won five matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Poyen can attribute much of their success to Kevin Freeman, who rushed for 162 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Hull, who picked up 51 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Poyen now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Dierks, they have fallen quite a ways from their 9-2 record last season and are now at 3-6.
Poyen will be playing in front of their home fans against Mineral Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mineral Springs knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully Poyen likes a good challenge. Dierks will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Mount Ida at 7:00 p.m. on November 2nd.
