The Central Eagles had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Buford by a score of 53-45 on Monday. Central's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sierra Covington out in front who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Taisha Quick, who scored 16 points along with four steals.
Central's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-12. As for Buford, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Andrew Jackson at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Andrew Jackson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday. As for Buford, they will head out on the road to face off against York Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (York Prep is ranked 211th, while Buford is ranked 225th).
