Everything went Wyoming East's way against the Golden Knights as the Warriors made off with a 55-32 victory. Given Wyoming East's advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Golden Knights are ranked 108th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Golden Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zymir Martin, who scored 14 points. That was a full 43.8% of Mount View's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthias Johnson, who scored 11 points.
Wyoming East pushed their record up to 10-5 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Mount View, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Wyoming East will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mount View, they will head out on the road to take on the Bulldogs at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Van has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8.
