Severance is 1-8 against Roosevelt since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. Severance is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
Severance proved they can win big on Monday (they won by three) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Greeley Central 3-2.
Severance had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-27, 19-25, 25-22, 25-15, 15-7.
Dalaynie Loftin and Presley Korte were among the main playmakers for Severance as the former had 11 aces and six digs and the latter had 12 digs and four aces. The dominant performance also gave Loftin a new career-high in assists (26).
They weren't the only good servers: Severance was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Roosevelt got the win against Greeley Central on Wednesday by a conclusive 3-0. The Roughriders haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Roosevelt not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Greeley Central between 15 and 18 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-18, 25-15.
Severance better focus on containing Izzy Biggs and Madi Kage as the pair were huge in Roosevelt's win. Biggs had eight digs and two aces, while Kage had seven digs.
Roosevelt's record now sits at 12-5. As for Severance, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Severance couldn't quite get it done against Roosevelt in their previous meeting back in September as they fell 3-1. Can the Silver Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
