The Otto-Eldred Terrors are taking a road trip to challenge the Kane Wolves at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Otto-Eldred's victory against Oswayo Valley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Terrors narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Green Wave 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Terrors.
Jared Obenrader spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits.
At the plate, Otto-Eldred's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Manning Splain, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Kane gave up the first runs last Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Cameron County 11-1. Considering the Wolves have won three matches by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Phinn Chamberlain was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Preston Darr was a standout: he scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Kane's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Nate McCormack, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.
Kane always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cameron County only posted an OBP of .158.
Kane now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Otto-Eldred, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Otto-Eldred came out on top in a nail-biter against Kane in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Terrors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
