It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the West Valley Eagles can now relate to. They were dealt a 55-13 defeat at the hands of Orland on Friday. West Valley has struggled against Orland recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Although West Valley took the loss, they still got scores from Cooper Staup and Chayce Reed.
Orland was led to victory by Isaac Velasquez and Manny Rodriguez. Velasquez rushed for 204 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per carry, while Rodriguez gained 221 total yards and four touchdowns. Velasquez was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards.
West Valley has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Orland, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
West Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Orland will look to defend their home field on Friday against Gridley at 7:00 p.m. Gridley is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
