The Sumner Spartans will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Skyline Spartans at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sumner is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
Last Thursday, Sumner faced Bonney Lake in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Sumner snuck past Bonney Lake with a 47-43 win.
Lainee Houillon was her usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with five steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Sumner's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kessa Nohr, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Skyline scored the most points they've had all season to find success on December 13th. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 69-66 win over Newport - Bellevue. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Sumner's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Skyline, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
