They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Southern lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2025.
Meanwhile, Mountain Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of GVCS Broadfording.
Ryder Lewis was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits.
At the plate, John Delaney made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Swindle, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Mountain Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Southern, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-3.
Southern got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March against Mountain Ridge by a conclusive 12-4 score. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Miners have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
