The Greenwood Rangers will head out on the road to square off against the Fort Stockton Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Greenwood has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 752 points over their last ten matches.
Greenwood scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Pecos 110-43 on the road. The team's offensive explosion also rewarded Greenwood with their most commanding win of the season.
Greenwood's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Landen Stewart, who scored 32 points, and Tatum Pierce, who scored 43 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stewart has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagen Burchfield, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 70-42, which was the final score in Fort Stockton's tilt against Seminole last Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Fort Stockton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1280th, while Seminole is ranked 386th).
Greenwood is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 20-11 record this season. As for Fort Stockton, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-20.
Greenwood took their victory against Fort Stockton when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 74-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Greenwood since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
