The Jac-Cen-Del Eagles waltzed into their contest Saturday with six straight wins but they left with seven. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 42-28 victory over Richmond. Given Jac-Cen-Del's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Richmond is ranked 233rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jac-Cen-Del's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reagan Hughes, who scored nine points. Hughes hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Borgman, who scored 13 points.
Jac-Cen-Del's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Richmond, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6.
Jac-Cen-Del and Floyd Central will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Richmond will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Marion at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
