The New Castle Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Jay County Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: New Castle has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while Jay County will arrive with seven straight wins.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 58-20, which was the final score in New Castle's tilt against Shelbyville on Friday. Despite the defeat, New Castle had strong showings from Mallory Owens, who scored four points along with eight rebounds, and Morley Blessinger, who scored two points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Jay County strolled past Blackford with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 47-32.
New Castle's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Jay County, their win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2.
New Castle took a serious blow against Jay County when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 58-15.
