What a way to win your first state championship.
Lake Mary captured Florida's Class 7A crown Saturday on a Hail Mary that initially looked like it was going to come up just short of the end zone until
Tavarius Brundidge Jr. made one of the best heads-up plays of the 2025 high school football season.

Trailing unbeaten Vero Beach 27-21 with eight seconds remaining and more than 40 yards from the end zone, Lake Mary (12-3) quarterback
Noah Grubbs tossed deep and after a deflection, the ball wound up in the hands of wide receiver
Barrett Schulz.
But Schulz was a yard or two shy of the end zone and immediately smothered and pushed back by Vero Beach defenders.
That's when sophomore Brundidge saved the day by ripping the ball out of the hands of his own teammate at around the four-yard line and spinning into the end zone to tie the game 27-27.
Junior
Lucas Parker converted the extra-point for the win.

Noah Grubbs (13) threw the pass and Barrett Schulz (4) caught it, but it was the heroics of Tavarius Brundidge Jr. that gave Lake Mary its first state championship. (FILE PHOTO: Mark Fletcher)
