Sparta is 2-8 against Holmen since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Sparta Spartans will head out on the road to challenge the Holmen Vikings at 7:15 p.m. Sparta is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
Even though Sparta has not done well against La Crosse Central recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Sparta managed a 38-33 win over La Crosse Central.
Sparta found their leader in underclassman Izzy Mickelson, who scored ten points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mickelson has scored all season. Elexa Jones was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five assists and five steals.
Meanwhile, Holmen strolled past La Crosse Logan with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 50-36.
Sparta's win bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Holmen, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Sparta suffered a grim 55-30 defeat to Holmen in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Sparta avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
