Thurston had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the Melvindale Cardinals 61-38. The win was all the more spectacular given the Eagles' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Cardinals are ranked 47th).

The victory got Thurston back to even at 3-3. As for Melvindale, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-2.

Thurston will take on Romulus in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Melvindale, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Melvindale Cardinals face off against the Annapolis Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Melvindale is facing Annapolis at the right time seeing as Annapolis is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
