The Wagener-Salley War Eagles were the 50-44 winner over the Pelion Panthers when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Wagener-Salley took a hard 41-25 fall against Pelion on Friday. Wagener-Salley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Pelion was led to victory by Kierra Gordon and Kalani Tolen. Gordon scored 6 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals, while Tolen scored 5 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Esmeralda Hernandez was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
Wagener-Salley's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Pelion, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wagener-Salley will square off against Brookland-Cayce at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pelion, they will head out on the road to face off against Horse Creek Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Horse Creek Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
