Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Nemaha Central Thunder walked away with it. They took their game at home on Thursday with ease, bagging a 48-0 victory over Pleasant Ridge. The win was just business as usual for Nemaha Central, who after nine games remain undefeated this season.
Nemaha Central found their leader in underclassman Carter Hajek, who rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 103 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Hajek has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Strathman, who gained 80 total yards and two touchdowns.
Nemaha Central's victory was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 10-0. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 42.82 points. As for Pleasant Ridge, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Nemaha Central will be playing at home against Riley County at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Riley County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 77th, while Nemaha Central is ranked 19th). Pleasant Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
