The Fremont Silverwolves will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Bear River Bears at 5:15 p.m. Fremont will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Tuesday, Fremont sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-46 victory over Morgan.
Fremont's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Abigail Christensen, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds, and Kale Brian, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Ama Herrick, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Bear River pushed their score all the way to 58 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to South Summit 63-58. Bear River has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Bear River's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Aubree Fry, who scored 21 points, and Shelby Wilkinson who scored 11 points. That's the first time this season that Fry scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklynn Pond, who scored three points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Bear River were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Fremont now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Bear River, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Fremont have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 37.4 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Bear River, though, as they've been averaging only 30.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
