The Dobson Mustangs will square off against the Gilbert Tigers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Thursday, Dobson got the win against Mesa by a conclusive 12-5. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.
Allie Hanson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emrey Walker, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mersades Torres, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Gilbert was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 17-10 to Higley.
Lexie Kyger was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kaiya Imel, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Dobson has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Gilbert, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-14.
Dobson might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Gilbert when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
