The Roosevelt Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Anchor Bay Tars at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Roosevelt will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Grosse Pointe North on Thursday. The Bears were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Norsemen. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Bears' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Jadn' McGowen made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Roosevelt is 2-1 when McGowen allows one or fewer hits, but 13-14 otherwise. McGowen was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Roosevelt got a massive performance out of Jack Halberstadt, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave Halberstadt a new career-high. Another player making a difference was RJ Pauley, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Roosevelt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Anchor Bay came tearing into Tuesday's game with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Eagles.
Zach Clemons looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in 11 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Isaiah Domey, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin McMahon, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Anchor Bay pushed their record up to 18-9 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Roosevelt, the win got them back to even at 15-15.
Roosevelt suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Anchor Bay when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
