The Piper Bengals will face off against the Olympic Heights Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Piper has five straight wins, Olympic Heights has 15 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Olympic Heights' hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Piper hadn't allowed a single run the last four times they've hit the field. Piper never let Boyd Anderson get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Bengals, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Beckett Noll was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Noll was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Piper got a massive performance out of Joel Arroyo, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Montrial Thomas, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Piper was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .409 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Olympic Heights came up short against Forest Hill on Monday and fell 7-2.
Olympic Heights saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Camilo Castellon, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Castellon has posted since back in April of 2024. Bodhee Williams also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Piper's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Olympic Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.
Olympic Heights' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Piper hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .380. It's a different story for Olympic Heights, though, as they've only averaged .180. Will they be able to contain Piper's hitters?
Everything went Piper's way against Olympic Heights in their previous matchup back in February, as Piper made off with a 10-0 victory. Does Piper have another victory up their sleeve, or will Olympic Heights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
