The Bloomington South Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Decatur Central Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a eight-game winning streak alive.
Bloomington South had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victor by a 42-21 margin over Evansville North. The result was nothing new for Bloomington South, who have now won ten games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Bloomington South's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jarrin Alley, who threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Lucas Waldon also helped out with an impressive 172 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Decatur Central can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They breezed by Whiteland at home to the tune of 41-7. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Decatur Central had established a 24 point advantage.
Decatur Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but KC Berry led the charge by rushing for 119 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Berry was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards. N'po Dodo also helped out as he racked up 159 rushing yards.
Bloomington South's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 42.33 points. As for Decatur Central, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
Friday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Bloomington South has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 179.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Decatur Central struggles in that department as they've been even better at 242.8 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
