Softball Recap: Walkertown Triumphs

While Walkertown's victory against North Stokes wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wolfpack skirted past the Vikings 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolfpack have posted since April 22, 2025.

Macy Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Walkertown got a massive performance out of Aliviah Bateman, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave Bateman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sadie Smith, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Walkertown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Walkertown's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for North Stokes, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Coming up, Walkertown will venture away from home to face off against Bartlett Yancey at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Buccaneers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.29 runs per game on average), something the Wolfpack will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for North Stokes, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Mount Airy at 6:00 p.m.
