The Vela Sabercats entered their tilt with the Rowe Warriors with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Vela came out on top against Rowe by a score of 45-33 on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Vela also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Janai Coleman was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 24 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Tovar, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Vela is on a roll lately: they've won 19 of their last 21 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 26-5 record this season. As for Rowe, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vela will challenge Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 770th, while Vela is ranked 300th). As for Rowe, they will head out on the road to challenge Sharyland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Sharyland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
